Dry Brush Technique

Dry Brush Technique

Apply Base Coat – let dry.

Select your base color and apply 2 coats – let dry. Here we used #021 White.

Select 3 or 4 “accent colors”.  We used #026 Pink,#008 Sky Blue, #049 Café Au Lait, and #045 Midnight.

Dry Brush Technique is achieved by scraping as much polish off the brush before swiping it on the nail.  Start with one color and do all nails – then go on to the next color, then the next…until you’ve used all of your selected accent colors.  Swipe the nail with as“dry” a brush as possible. Swipe in different directions, overlap your colors – there are no rules! Let dry.

Finish up by applying #025 Gel-Like Top Coat.

Abstract Nail Art Using Hair Spray

First step:  fill a small bowl with water – allow it to sit for awhile – reaching room temperature.

Apply Base Coat – Let Dry

Select your Base Color.  We used #019 Silver.  Let dry.

Doing one nail at a time…..use scotch tape to mask off your cuticle area and all around your nail.

Next add a couple of drops of your selected accent color to the water (we used #045 Midnight). When the nail color disperses and spreads out on top of the water – take your hair spray and lightly spray the nail color. The nail color will start to separate and create a design of it’s own on top of the water. Select the part of the design you like best and dip your taped finger in the nail color.  Use a Q-tip to collect the residue nail color as you pull your finger out. Peel off the tape – go on to the next nail following the same steps. Let dry.

Use a clean up brush and nail polish remover to clean up all around your nail and cuticle area.

Finish off your design with #025 Gel-Like Top Coat.

Diagonal Nail Art

ALWAYS apply Base Coat first.

Apply 2 coats of your base color selection. Here we used #029 Lilac. Let dry.

Choose your “accent shade” – we chose #048 Shadow. Simply add this shade on a diagonal across the tip of your nail and let dry.

Ring Finger:  You can take this design a bit further by adding a 3rd color (#030 Lavender) and using a striping brush to add a band of color where the other two shades meet. We also added a line of dots (#019 Silver) using a dotting tool.

When completely dry – top off your design with #025 Gel-Like Top Coat to seal and protect.

V-Shaped French Tip

Apply Base Coat – let dry. This is very IMPORTANT, as green and blue nail color shades CAN stain your nails due to the heavy pigmentation of these colors.

On your “ring” and “pointer” finger apply 2 coats of #015 Evergreen. On your 3 remaining fingers apply 2 coats of #012 Aqua.  Let dry.

Next apply Limited Edition Shade “Ocean Mist” to all nails. Let Dry.

Back to your “ring” and “pointer” fingers – apply a “v-shaped” French Tip using #012 Aqua. On the 3 remaining nails apply the “v-shaped”French Tip using #015 Evergreen. Let dry.

Seal and Protect your design using #025 Gel-Like Top Coat.

French Mani

Apply Base Coat – let dry.

Paint your THUMB and RING finger with 2 coats #005 Crimson, and the remaining nails using #023 Matte Black. Let dry.

Thumb/Ringer Finger: Apply Limited Edition Shade “Hit the Road Jack” – let. Dry. Remaining Nails:  Apply a FRENCH TIP using #005 Crimson.  Let Dry.  Then apply “Hit the Road Jack” just to the RED French Tips.

Back to the Thumb/Ring Finger: Apply #023 Matte Black French Tip. Let dry.

Do NOT apply top coat to MATTE Black nails.

Swirl & Flower Nail Art

Apply base coat – let dry.

Apply 2 coats #021 White – let dry.

Using #028 Rose, #048 Shadow, and #009 Periwinkle……place a droplet of each color by “stacking them” one on top of the other – on the center of your nail.

Then immediately (while the droplets are WET)…. take a dotting tool and gently swirl and drag the colors until it makes a design that you like. This is foolproof – you can’t make a mistake.

If you feel that one of your nails could use a splash more of a certain color…just go ahead and add another droplet and swirl it into your design.

Best part is the TOP Coat finish. The TOP COAT makes this type of ART come to life, not to mention it seals and protects your design. We suggest #025 Gel-Like Top Coat for a “thicker” glossy finish.

Want to take it a step further? You can use this type of Nail Art as a “back-drop” and add something to the fore-ground. See Inset Pic…where we added a couple of flowers (#045 Midnight).

We used a dotting tool to make the flowers (5 dots in a circular pattern) and then we used the other end of the dotting tool to “drag” or “scratch” the petal flowers (which reveals the underlying colors) and gives definition to your floral design. Then we added a “YELLOW” DOT (#001 Lemon)  for the center of the flower.

Diagonal Dot Nail Art

Apply Base Coat – let dry.

Apply 2 coats of #028 Rose to all nails – let dry.

Apply #025 Gel-Like Top Coat – let dry.

Using #023 Matte Black apply on a “diagonal” across the tip of your nail – let dry.

Using a dotting tool and #023 Matte Black dot along the diagonal line on all nails.

Tips:

Do not use Top Coat on top of the Black Matte polish – as you want to keep the

“matte finish”.

Instead of using #028 Rose, as your base color………try other shades as this design works great with an assortment of colors.  We also suggest trying….#009 Periwinkle or #049 Café Au Lait.

When the nail color disperses and spreads out on top of the water – take your hair spray and lightly spray the nail color that’s dispersed on top of the water. The nail color will start to separate and create a design of it’s own on top of the water. Select the part of the design you like best and dip your taped finger in the nail color. Use a Q-tip to collect the residue nail color as you pull your finger out of the water. Peel off the tape – go on to the next nail following the same steps. Let dry.

Then immediately use the LARGE end of a dotting tool to gently swirl the colors together. You may need to add an extra drop of one or more of the shades……to get your desired LOOK.

Floral Abstract Nail Art

Apply Base Coat – let dry.

Choose a base color and apply 2 coats – we picked #028 Rose. Let dry.

White Flowers: Even “white” flowers have deeper shades of white or gray… so we used #021 White, #048 Shadow, and #045 Midnight to give our flowers some depth and added interest for this abstract floral design.

Use your dotting tool and dip it into all 3 shades (White, Shadow, and Midnight” and place 5 dots in a circular pattern. Then using the smaller end of a dotting tool and while the “dots” are still wet…..drag the color from the “center” of each DOT (which represents a “petal”) towards the center point of the flower. Do this for each flower that you create.

Next…using just #021 WHITE make additional flowers– which will be the flowers in the foreground and will stand out the most, as the darker flowers are your “background” flowers – giving this design “depth”.  Follow the same method or directions for creating these flowers too – by using the smaller end of the dotting tool and dragging the color of each dot towards the center point of the flower. This brings your floral pattern together by accenting the “petals” of the flower. Flowers should be over-lapped for a more realistic design, as well as, placing some flowers on the edge of the nail.

When dry – apply #025 Gel-Like Top Coat to seal and protect your design.
